The practice management course will provide an opportunity to understand the responsibilities of a member in practice but also to consider issues which affect practice management more generally. You’ll be given an opportunity to get connected to a network of like-minded and similar stage members and get to know those within ICAS who are able to offer you support in this new stage of your career.

It is a mandatory condition of obtaining a practising certificate from ICAS to undertake training which covers the following learning outcomes within 12 months (before or after) of a practising certificate being granted:

  • Understand regulatory landscape a PC holder operates in
  • Appreciate the essential responsibilities of being a PC holder
  • Recognise the key financial performance factors of a CA firm
  • Have knowledge of key challenges facing CA firms and the opportunities that they present

This course allows you to satisfy that requirement.

Key themes and topics

This course will follow a classroom and workshop format. The sessions will be an engaging collaborative manner of learning:

  • Basics of going into practice
  • Practice Regulation
  • PII claims and how to avoid them
  • AML Compliance
  • Practice Management and Development

  • Twice online – on Thursday 13 March 2025 and Wednesday 12 November 2025
  • And in person on Tuesday 3 June 2025 (followed by lunch)

Depending upon your individual role and training and development needs, attending this event can count towards your annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement.

Who is this for?

  • Practising Certificate holders
  • Anyone considering becoming a PC holder and interested in finding out more about what their responsibilities would be. Anyone attending the course and subsequently being granted a PC within 12 months of attendance will be deemed to have met the attendance requirement conditional to the PC grant.
